- About the project
MOBI-US is an EIT RawMaterials funded project that set up a pilot network among four universities from the ESEE region (East & South-East Europe) who run different raw materials-related master programs: Wroclaw University of Science and Technology (PL), AGH University of Science and Technology (PL), University of Miskolc (HU) and University of Zagreb (HR).
The aim of the MOBI-US project was to strengthen the networking of raw materials-related university master programs by creating a set of structured mobility options for students between the ESEE partnering universities. It may be exemplified with pieces of jigsaw puzzles: each master program has its specialty, which may be missing or less focused in the curriculum of the similar, or in a certain way related program of the partner university. Using the structured, planned student mobility opportunities, the home programs may be complemented with specializations from the partner in both directions. Through this network, master students had the chance to shift for one semester – using a “mobility window” – to study at the partner university a bit different specialization compared to the home program. Using structured mobility pathways, students may be specialized in fields less focused in their home program; also adding value to the existing home programs and strengthening cooperation among ESEE universities.
Target learners of the project were students studying on engineering master programs or on 7th – 9th semester from single university degree (10 semesters) programs in ESEE countries. Students were expected from different courses of the raw materials sector, including earth science, mining, processing as well as materials engineering.
The successful implementation of the MOBI-US network brought multifold benefits to the main interested parties by strenghtening local MSc programs, improving cooperation among partner universities and developing a higher qualified workforce, with a solid financial support scheme. Consequently, the project acted against the brain-drain from the ESEE region to Western Europe education programs.
- Our role in the project
LPRC led the Work Package 9 (Dissemination and communication); Task 1.5 (Contribution to the definition of mobility programs & framework); and gave support to the MOBI-US related workshops.
