- About the project
Towards a World Forum on Raw Materials (FORAM) was working on an EU-based platform of international experts and stakeholders which advanced the idea of a World Forum on Raw Materials (WFRM) and enhanced international cooperation on raw-material policies and investments. Global use of mineral resources has increased and supply chains have become ever more complex. A number of global initiatives and organisations have been contributing to information transfer, including the EC, UNEP International Resource Panel, the World Resources Forum, the World Material Forum, the OECD, and others.
- Our role in the project
LPRC contributed to multiple deliverables in the six work packages of FORAM. In Work Package 1 – Inception and Baseline, we have identified and prioritised raw materials initiatives, stakeholders, and data which provides background information on existing initiatives related to the ‘World Forum on Raw Materials’ (WFRM) concept.
We also contributed to the project in Work Package 3 – Strategic Planning. In this work package we developed a long-term vision for the WFRM by analysing existing barriers and opportunities for the concept, and creating a plan for its future and position within the wider raw materials community. We were also a member of the Project Management team, and had a shared responsibility in management and reporting activities within the project, through which we dealt closely with other project partners.
